I don’t understand why so many graduates leave university and then blame their education for not equipping them with the skills to find employment. Education is not a guarantee and never was (it was just very efficient at working for the old system).
Education was created to help the industrial economy recruit ‘made to order’ workers who could take on menial task and stick with them for life, unfortunately, this system no longer applies and so as job roles become more specialised it’s now up to both the educational institutions and the students themselves to take responsibility and adapt to the changing demands of the new economy.
Just as studying the molecular structure of water may teach you why you float, it wont teach you how to swim. It’s time we stopped holding out for guarantees and start finding new ways to work in a new system.
